In addition to serving the community's emergency needs, the Piperton Fire Department seeks to provide a proactive approach through various means.
Smoke Alarm Checks
Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries. In 2014-2018, almost three of every five home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms. If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out.
The Piperton Fire Department will gladly provide smoke alarm safety checks free of charge to any resident of the city. If you need assistance with installation, battery replacement, or cannot afford to purchase smoke alarms for your home, please call the Fire Department without delay at 901-853-2195.
Emergency Preparation Education
We have educational materials and planning suggestions for emergency situations, including fire and natural disasters, for persons to be prepared should events occur.
We require Burn Permits for any open burning. These are free and are given upon request for the day of the request only. There is a criteria list for issuance of a permit. Some of conditions for the permit are based on:
- Material to be burned
- Weather conditions
Fire Sprinkler System
An automatic fire sprinkler system is required in all new building construction and is enforced by the Piperton Fire Department. A Sprinkler Permit Application must be submitted to the Piperton Fire Department and approved prior to installation.
Please call the Fire Department at 901-853-2195 for further details on any of our services.
